Vintage carved and hand-painted wooden duck raised on an integral plinth base, decorated throughout with stylised feather motifs in black, ochre, cream and red. Executed in the traditional folk-art manner of western India, the bird with exaggerated eye and geometric wing panels.

A decorative example of Indian village craftsmanship with a well-worn painted surface and good overall colour.

Birds occupy an important place in Indian folk art, often representing good fortune, fertility, domestic harmony, or simply serving as visually appealing decorative forms.
