This mid-century jug with bold turquoise decoration was designed by Colin Melbourne for Beswick Pottery. This piece is likely to be a mid‑1960s Beswick Studio “lottery” jug, produced during Colin Melbourne’s most influential period, probably retained by or gifted to a studio worker.

Marked to base with shape number “131” and “Made in England”, stamped “Beswick England”. Approximate dimensions: height 15cm, width 12cm.

Colin Melbourne (1928-2009) was a renowned British ceramicist known for his modernist approach, producing a range for Beswick in the 1950s that included modernist vessels and animal figures.
