A large stoneware vase attributed to John R. Ward (British studio potter), with combed decoration beneath a speckled ash glaze, iron-rich shoulder and flared rim.
The combination of height, surface variation, and flared rim gives the piece a strong visual presence, making it suited to use as a focal point within a scheme. It holds space effectively on its own, with enough surface complexity to avoid additional styling.
