Lake Thun, Switzerland (Late 19th Century)
£120.00
A charming oil on board depicting a peaceful view across Lake Thun, Switzerland, with moored boats, timber jetties and figures enjoying the lakeside promenade beneath the Bernese Alps. A château-like building, probably Schadau Castle, emerges amongst the trees, lending the scene a distinctly Swiss character.
Painted in the late nineteenth century during the golden age of Alpine tourism, the work captures the quiet elegance and scenic grandeur that made the region one of Europe's most celebrated destinations.
