Bitossi: Rimini Blu Ceramic Bottle Vases for PIER by Aldo Londi, Italy (Pair)

A striking pair of vintage Italian ceramic bottle vases in the celebrated Rimini Blu range designed by Aldo Londi (1911-2003) for Bitossi Ceramiche. Produced in Italy for PIER and retaining printed factory marks to the bases.

Of elegant tapered form with gently flared necks, the vases are decorated with bands of incised geometric ornament beneath rich cobalt and turquoise blue glazes. Stylised floral motifs, dotted borders and repeating abstract patterns create the textured surface that has made Rimini Blu one of the most recognisable achievements of twentieth-century Italian ceramic design.

A complementary pair, each vase displays its own unique combination of incised decoration and tonal variation within the vibrant glaze. Such differences are a hallmark of the handmade production process and contribute to the individuality and character for which Bitossi ceramics are renowned.
