Art Deco Ikora Dinanderie Vase by Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik (WMF)
A Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik (WMF) Ikora Metalwork vase, produced using the highly skilled, proprietary "Dinanderie" multi-toned chemical patination process c.1928-1934 in Gislingen, Germany.
Multi-layered organic patina transitioning from dark brown at the rim to original brass yellow tones, shifting into a soft green/verdigris hue near the base, with an abstract-surrealist design of tree branches, each leaf showing cog-like machinery that evokes both nature and industry simultaenously.
The unique color transitions to the brass are the result of WMF's secretive, proprietary NKA chemical patination process, and the design was created by meticulously masking parts of the brass, applying acid etching, and inlaying metals or applying specific heat variations to make the stylisations visible against the cloudy, patinated background
In good condition with wear commensurate with it's age, there are two minor, shallow dents isolated to one side of the around the widest point which do not detract from the piece as the vase still displays well from the primary side. Offered as found. Clear, incised tower mark on the underside, with WMF lettering.
H 13.5cm x W 10cm
